Cinco de Mayo is one of Mexico’s most famous festivals, celebrated as a day of victory in Mexico and parts of the USA. This year is extra special, especially for gamers, as Krafton also jumped into the celebrations with the announcement of a special Cinco de Mayo Deathmatch event in PUBG Mobile with a prize pool as huge as $8,000 up for the taking.

People interested can register as a squad using this form and must join the official PUBG Mobile esports Discord server for all communication and news about the event. Registrations are open till 13th May and will open once again from 18th to 21st May. The format is going to be direct eliminations. So do register and join the server for the time of your lives.

Cinco de Mayo Deathmatch Event: Format and Prize Pool

Open Qualifiers will be on the play for two weeks, starting May 17th till 21st and May 24th to 28th. These will be further subdivided into three stages, with 64 teams qualifying for the 2nd round and finally the top 32 teams for the final round of qualifiers. Facing off here, 16 teams will move on to the second phase, each winning $100. This will be followed for both sets of participants.

Semi-finals will be held for two days, June 4th and 5th, and the best of the best 8 teams will be selected from each day to make it to the ultimate final stage. The Grand Finale on June 11 and 12 will have three levels as well, with the 16 qualified teams battling for survival for 8 positions.

The second day will see the 8 teams dish out blows to grab a place in the top two. These elite two teams will face each other on the battlefield one final time to crown the true winning squad. The winning team will receive $1,500 while the runner-ups win $1,300.
